Aneta Lewandowska is a Polish artist working with objects, site-specific installations, works on paper and painting. Her practice is rooted in gathering — sticks, leaves, bark, traces left by nature and time. Through covering with metal, drawing and quiet intervention, she transforms found materials into compositions that hold attention, impermanence and care.
The body is her first point of reference — both as metaphor and as lived experience. She is drawn to touch: collecting, handling, the gesture of a brush, the making of a line. In her understanding, the body is our first environment, the one through which we experience everything else. This sensibility runs through her objects and spatial installations, which respond to place, material and the presence of the hand.
Her work moves between two registers: the precise and the free. Carefully constructed objects stand alongside works on paper made with ink, acrylic and water-based media — loose, colourful, bodily. Both are responses to the same impulse: a need to slow down, to look closely, to breathe.
Lewandowska has exhibited in Poland, Germany, Austria and Greece, and has participated in residencies across Europe.
She lives and works in Wrocław.
