t/s Franken is a German supplier from World War II, sunk on May 8, 1945 near Hel. It is estimated that the tanker, over 180 m long and 22.1 m wide, contains 1.5 million liters of fuel. As a result of the progressive corrosion, an ecological disaster can occur at any time. Severe contamination will affect the coast and beaches in the Bay of Gdańsk region. More information can be found on the MARE Foundation website.
Work was presented at the 17th SURVIAL Art Review, as an installation including sound, video projection and the smell of gasoline.
